Caring for one another, in good times and hard ones
Chesed means lovingkindness. At Kehillah it is not an idea, it is a practice. The Chesed Care Group is our members supporting members, especially those who are unwell, grieving, newly parenting, feeling isolated, or simply in need of a friendly check-in. We hold people with care, keep in touch, and help coordinate the right kind of support at the right time, always with dignity and consent.
What the Chesed group does
Our work is simple and human. We stay connected with those who might need a little extra attention, check how they are doing, and offer light, practical help where appropriate. When needs are more complex, we link in with clergy or the safeguarding team and help people find the services that can best support them. Everything is handled quietly and respectfully, and only the information that is necessary is shared.
How it works
Anyone can let us know there is a need, whether for themselves or on behalf of someone else. A small coordinating team keeps track of requests, matches volunteers to tasks, and checks in to make sure support is landing well. Volunteers (Kehillah members only) choose what they can offer and for how long, and can step back at any time. We keep clear boundaries. We are a caring community presence, not medical or professional care.
Why join
Chesed is a way to live our values with your time and presence. It is also a way to build real relationships across the community. Some volunteers offer an occasional call, others help more regularly. Every small act matters, and we will support you with clear guidance and a friendly point of contact.
How to volunteer
